Over the next few weeks, I’m going to be covering what style of clothing works best for your body shape.
This one is going to discuss dressing for an apple-shaped body (also known as the inverted triangle.
So what is an apple shape?
- Your shoulders are normally wider than your hips
- Very often you don’t have a defined waistline
- Your hips and thighs are smaller than the top part of your body.
- Quite often you will have thinner arms and legs
- Maybe a flat derrière
- Extra weight in your tummy area
Help is here! Below are a few styles that will help you see what works well. Of course, while I would love you to buy them from Covered Perfectly, they are used as an example.
Stay away from tops that end at the middle of your tummy. Longer is better as they elongate your body.
You should definitely stay away from boat neck and high neckline tops. They will make your shoulders look wider.
Avoid short sleeves or cap sleeves, they will give too much attention to your shoulders. The ¾ length works, as do long sleeves and flared sleeves.
Draw attention away from the tummy area
by emphasizing your bust.
Wear tops that flow downwards, like an A-line,
empire waist or a high-waistline
Interestingly a Peplum top will also work for you,
especially with a dropped waist.
Plus, an asymmetrical hem will help, as again,
it will bring the eyes downwards.
Create lines – a vest will work for this or wear a scarf
hanging loose in two lines. Don’t have too much
going on above your bustline.
I hope this helps. Please leave any comments below or share this article on your social media so that others can figure out what works well for their shape.
Thank you for being part of my journey
