Covered Perfectly LBD By Nicole from High Altitude Style

Note From Pauline Durban Founder of Covered Perfectly - Nicole, like many of our bloggers fell in love with the Boat Neck dress. Check out the many different ways that she styled the LBD.

Over to Nicole...

Today I want to introduce you to Covered Perfectly, a company founded by Pauline Durban when she was in her 50s. This company specializes in fashionable, but stylish clothes for women over 40. The clothes’ fabrics are thin enough to allow stylish layering (see photo below), but thick enough to cover bulks and bumps. It also means you can find clothes that won’t emphasize a tummy, love-handles, upper arms, you name it. Instead, they are designed to show-cast your best features like a great collar bone, nice lower arms and hands, for instance.

Their focus is on dressing our best, not on hiding us. Let me explain what I mean with this statement by means of the sample of my choice, the Boat Neck dress.

Why I chose this sample

I chose a Black Boat Neck Dress because a LBD dress is very versatile for many dressing situations. It can be styled for the office (first photo in this post), a party, running errands, going out for dinner and even for browsing the beach stores on vacation (photo below). Every woman owes herself to own a LBD. Covered Perfectly offers their LBD with scoop or boat-neck. I picked the LBD with boat-neck as my collar bone is one of my great features. Going thru menopause, I became a bra size 34 AA. This means that wearing a wide cleavage would be a view into the void. The LBD with scoop neck, however, is a perfect choice for those of us who have a great cleavage.

Fabric and cut

This boat-neck dress is made from versatile Ponte de Roma modal and feels super soft. Thus, it is perfect for traveling. The cut of the LBD is a sleek timeless T-shirt cut, simple, but sophisticated. This means there is no risk to look old-fashioned (and hence matronly) or over-the-top (read too trendy, trying too hard). The 3/4 length sleeves permit wearing the dress year round.

Fit

The Boat Neck dress is made in the US. I checked their size chart and ordered a size S. The LBD fits perfectly. It is tailored with the right ease to hug my body in all the right places. On my 5 ft 4 (1.63 m) frame, the dress hits below the knee (see last two photos in this post). The cut permits adjusting the length with a belt to around or just above the knee. Since the fabric is thin enough to not bulk, you can belt the LBD to the length of the sweet point of your legs (see work outfits in this post). When you have got great legs, you may knot the hem to show them off when walking along the beach on vacation (see photo above). However, when your knees are on the wide side, the dress will cover them perfectly. Adding accessories on your upper body draws the eyes up.

Price-performance ratio

Covered Perfectly ships to all 50 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Guam by USPS Priority Mail. This means you will receive your order within 2 to 5 business days anywhere in the US. Shipping is free on all orders over $47. I like their shipping policy as free shipping is for the entire US, not just the Lower 48.
This LBD costs $69.95. Typically, I keep a LBD for about 4 years and wear it on average at least once a month. Since this dress is suitable for weekends, work and vacation depending on the styling, I expect to wear it more often than just once a month or so. Thus, the price-per-wear gets down to less than $1 over time. Per my criteria, this price-per-wear is a great deal and an excellent price-performance ratio.

In summary: I love this Covered Perfectly LBD.❤
