Let's continue this series with the hourglass figure.
If you are lucky enough to have an hourglass figure,
you have enviable curves that most of us
women over 40 would love.
You will probably have a wide bust
A narrow waist
Wide hips that are similar to the width of the bust
You have proportional curves (did I mention lucky)
Normally your body shape is the easiest to style. However: if you have a tummy or muffin top the regular fitted designs won’t work as well. Hey, you can’t have it all. Fashion for women over 50 usually has to take care of this issue. V-neck women’s tops will work for you and your bustline, especially if you have a big bust, or well endowed, which sounds better.
Stay away from boat neck tops. Many older women want to hide their muffin top so something that skims past the waistline is best.
The Fit and Flare will work and is available in a V-neck
The Classy Two-toned top will work as it will bring you in at the top
and even you out with the combination color at the bottom.
Of course, if you don’t have a tummy to hide, wear belts that sit at the waist is another option. Don’t wear big baggy tops as it will take away from your hourglass figure. Stick with tops or dresses that flow over your body.
One other thing to remember, it's important to wear a good supportive bra. That will be the start to evening out your shape. That's it for the hourglass.
